  1. Wow Tony. I am so pulled in by the subject, who knows what else is going on technically.
All I know is that I want to pack up and move to Australia.
5:30 pm here, dark and about -4°
Thanks for sharing the fact that there is an easier way out there!
    p.s.
Happy New Year to you too!

  2. Thanks Paula, it's summer and over 38°C (100°F) during the day so Xmas and NYE can be a little different to the Northern Winter celebrations, something which I hope to also experience one day.

  3. Happy New Year, Tony! You posted some nice pics here. These first two look like you were sitting on the grass between the river and Capitol City Trail...maybe out in front of the rowing club...? How close am I? You must have been there a while if you went from broad daylight to midnight! Speaking of water...your use of the river gave some great color reflections from both the city-scape and the fireworks. That boat crewman in your last picture looks like you stole his girlfriend or something... I can only imagine what you did to get that sour look from him.

  4. OMG, using intel skills real well... you are spot on with positioning and Capital City Trail is a favourite of mine for bike riding and Mirella and I have done 80+km in a circle around town a number of times. It follows waterways (small creeks mostly, we don’t have anything like the Boise or Yukon unfortunately) and avoids main streets & roads which are too dangerous for my liking. We got there early evening with some food and drink, pegged our spot with a picnic mat and enjoyed the sun setting over town with music festival and various bands, followed by 9.30pm fireworks which allowed younger families the option to leave earlier, and finally the countdown and main fireworks event. Now that you mention it, the guy on the boat does look a little sour, probably because he had to work on the night :)

  5. Great Pics! I love the crowd and neon lights. The fireworks you caught nicely...for some reason I feel my fireworks pictures never turn out as well as I hope. (Maybe because before my Nikon I was using a disposable?!)
